What is the difference between bespoke curtains and ready made curtains?
In a recent communication with a client I was asked what is the difference between bespoke curtains I make and ready made curtains bought in a high street shop. The answer is very simple. See advise below.
Bespoke Curtains
The overall aesthetic and functionality of a drape plays a significant role when it comes to bespoke curtains. Bespoke curtains have enough weight to them using interlining and weights sewn in to the hem of the curtains. This makes curtains to fold and hang beautifully and with a help of your maker, pleating your new curtains adds an additional luxury.
Ready Made curtains
Ready-made curtains, on the other hand, are mass-produced in standard sizes and styles. While they can be convenient and cost-effective, their drape doesn't have interlining or weights added to them. Curtains are often creased and unable to iron the creases out.
Fitting
Bespoke curtains are made to fit according to the window and clients expectations. I offer full range of fabrics during our consultation and detailed measurements are taken. You can't expect this with ready made curtains.
Quality
Bespoke curtains are made by skilled makers who pay meticulous attention to detail. All seams are precisely sewn, the patterns are perfectly matched, and the pleating is done to a high standards. This level of craftsmanship results in a flawless finish that is often lacking in ready made curtains.
Finish
The final finishes and touches on bespoke curtains go a long way. Everythings is hand sewn to a very high standard using a good quality fabrics, interlining, linings and threads.
A pair of bespoke handsewn curtains will last approximately 20 years, I am afraid I can not say this about ready made curtains.
